Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of Bill Guard (billguard.email). By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. If you're accepting on behalf of a company, you confirm you have authority to do so.
1. What Bill Guard does
Bill Guard connects to your email marketing platform (currently HubSpot and Mailchimp) with a credential you provide, monitors your billable contact count, forecasts when you'll cross a pricing tier, alerts you before your billing snapshot, and — only when you explicitly confirm — changes the contacts you selected to a non-billable state (non-marketing in HubSpot, archived in Mailchimp). Every change is reversible in your platform. We never delete contacts.
2. Your account and credentials
- Keep your login credentials secure; you're responsible for activity under your account.
- You may only connect platform accounts you own or are authorized to manage.
- The platform credential you paste grants us the access you configured for it — we recommend the minimum scopes the app asks for. You can revoke access at any time by removing the product in Bill Guard or revoking the credential in your platform.
3. Trial, billing, and cancellation
- New accounts get a 30-day free trial, no card required. When it ends, the dashboard locks until you subscribe — we never charge you silently.
- The subscription is $29/month, processed by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record; their checkout terms apply to the payment itself, and they handle invoices and sales tax.
- Cancel anytime from your account page; access continues to the end of the paid period. No partial-month refunds unless required by law.
- If the price ever changes, existing subscribers get at least 30 days' notice first.
4. Changes we make to your platform
- We change contact statuses only after your explicit confirmation — there is no automatic cleanup.
- Platform semantics apply: in HubSpot, confirmed flips take effect on your next update date, not immediately, and require a flip workflow in your portal.
- You are responsible for reviewing the contacts you confirm. Our buyer- and engagement-exclusions are a best-effort safety net, not a guarantee.
5. No guarantees
Counts, forecasts, and alerts are estimates built on your platform's APIs and your account's data. Platforms change their APIs, pricing, and billing behavior without notice. The service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. In particular, Bill Guard is not responsible for charges your email platform bills you — including if an alert is delayed, inaccurate, or not delivered, or if a confirmed change doesn't take effect before your platform's billing snapshot. Actual savings depend on your data and your platform's pricing.
6. Acceptable use
Don't use the service for anything unlawful, don't attempt to breach or overload it, don't resell it, and don't connect accounts you aren't authorized to manage. We may suspend accounts that do.
7. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for any claim is capped at the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages — including platform subscription charges, lost profits, or lost data.
8. Termination
You can stop using Bill Guard and delete your data at any time (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or terminate accounts for breach of these terms or non-payment; if we discontinue the service, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice.
9. Independence
Bill Guard is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by HubSpot, Mailchimp, or any email platform. Their names and trademarks belong to their owners and are used only to describe compatibility.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms; material changes will be noted here with a new effective date and, where significant, emailed to you. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it. Questions: support@billguard.email.
